Since the beginning of the war in eastern Ukraine in 2014, more than 30,000 people have been seriously injured during hostilities. After russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the number of severely injured increased significantly due to massive missile attacks, bombings, mining – a continuous fire avalanche from the enemy’s side on military facilities and civilian infrastructure all over Ukraine.<\/p>\n
Fighters with damage to the central and peripheral nervous system found themselves in a difficult situation, in desperate need of specialized neurorehabilitation.<\/p>\n
Understanding that our defenders should receive high quality rehabilitation in Ukraine, the \u00abKRAN\u00bb Charitable Foundation in partnership with the \u00abNODUS\u00bb clinic (Scientific&Practical Neurological & Neurosurgical Rehabilitation Research Center) have been implementig a charitable project of specialized rehabilitation of wounded and traumatized military and combatants-volunteers for many years. <\/p>\n
Specialized, high-quality rehabilitation at the “Nodus” clinic brings Hope thanks to:<\/strong><\/p>\n Since the end of February 2022 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the Internal Service, the Special Operations Forces, and Territorial Defence Forces have been addressing to the clinic for specialized medical care.<\/p>\n *During the large-scale russian invasion of Ukraine from February 24, 2022 till March 10, 2023, 90 wounded servicemen received restorative treatment & specialized neurorehabilitation free of charge at “Nodus” in the framework of the charity project.<\/p>\n At present 71 defenders are undergoing treatment & rehabilitation, of which: 19 people – specialized neurorehabilitation, 52 soldiers – psychological rehabilitation (*data as of March 10, 2023).<\/strong><\/p>\n Among them are those who, as a result of injuries, became partially immobilized, lost the ability to move, walk… and ended up in a wheelchair.<\/p>\n WE DON’T BUY WHEELCHAIRS, WE RAISE THE GRAVELY INJURED ON THEIR FEET!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Andriy Buevich<\/strong> from Bucha, a 32-year-old commander, in January 2023 on combat mission in the Bakhmut direction (near Soledar) received a wound to the head, which led to a severe transcranial brain injury (TBI), immobilization of the left part of the body, in addition, a fragment of shrapnel got stuck in the brain. Despite the severe wound, Andriy continued to command his comrades.<\/p>\n After evacuation and completion of surgical treatment (removal of the shrapnel and implantaion of a plate to close the skull), the injured hero required specialized intensive neurorehabilitation to restore mobility and the ability to sit, stand and walk again. The warrior’s specialized technological rehabilitation began with verticalization, and now Andriy works out for 5-6 hours every day to restore body balance, develop joints, develop muscle strength and gradually achieve his goal – not to remain living in a wheelchair and return to the frontline to defend Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n
