\nOleksandr is a war veteran who went to the front in 2014. In 2016, his car was blown up by a landmine. He suffered a serious spinal injury and was diagnosed with spinal cord damage and loss of mobility. But this was not a death sentence. Thanks to acupuncture, rehabilitation and incredible willpower, he got back on his feet.
\nWhen the full-scale invasion began in 2022, he went to the military registration and enlistment office on the first day. At that time, he was still using a cane, limping, but with firm conviction: he had to be on the front line. The refusal only strengthened his determination.
\nIn 2024, despite all medical contraindications, he achieved his goal and was taken to the front. Because his experience is invaluable. He fought in the hottest spots. But on 30 October 2024, he was wounded again: an FPV drone hit his car, and a fragment almost tore off his left arm. His nerves were severed, and his arm began to dry up…
\nOleksandr underwent complex rehabilitation at the Nodus clinic, where he was sent by his commander \u2014 the same commander who defended Brovary in 2022 together with the clinic’s chief physician, Oleksandr Kulyk.
\nOleksandr had every right not to go to the front because his eldest son has Down syndrome. But he couldn’t do otherwise. All the men in his family are now at the front.
\nHe jokes, laughs, and cheers others up. But behind every smile there is pain, both physical and emotional. And then there is the grenade on his bulletproof vest. In case he has to go not just like that, but to take as many enemies with him as possible. Because \u2018giving up is not for me,\u2019 he says.
\nHe also says: “I know how much such rehabilitation costs in Israel or Germany: 200-270 thousand euros. Thanks to you, I have a chance to undergo it here and return. To the ranks. To my brothers in arms. To the fight.”
